             abstract = "A transient one-dimensional mathematical model for a conventional 
                         heat pipe is presented and solved numerically. The model was 
                         developed using the energy conservation equation to simulate the 
                         temperature profile across the heat pipe shell, with source term 
                         account for the heat input and output from the pipe. Navier-Stokes 
                         equations were used to model the vapor flow considering the 
                         evaporation/condensation rates and compressible flow. The 
                         predictions of the model were compared with published experimental 
                         data for a copper-water heat pipe.",
